Christmas 2011

Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas everyone and to all a good night!
Pete and I enjoyed our Christmas Eve dinner with Sarah, Skyler, Pixie, Justin, Jordan, Chris and Greg. Little doggie Montana watched from her spot as well as we stuffed our bellies with bacon-blue-cheese-mashed-potatoes, baked salmon and halibut cheeks, brussel sprouts and roasted parnsips and squash. We had steamed manilla clams for an appetizer, pumpkin pie and gingerbread house for dessert.
The final gingerbread house!

Conversations were great, Skyler's new toys were amazing and movies (Back to the Future marathon) were fun as well. We stayed into the wee hours of the night, and made it home safely to our bed.

After sleeping in, opening presents, making a delicious Chirstmas brunch, going for a walk and then calling the families, we relaxed and talked about new ideas for next year. And now I'm adding a few pictures to the mix here on the lil blog.
Thanks Mark and Cath for the new glass measuring cup! Time to make PANCAKES!!!
FINALLY! A Double burner cast-iron griddle! I'm soo hungry!!!
Enjoy the rest of your day! Lots of love.

PS more on the gingerbread house: Pete and I are starting a new tradition of making a gingerbread house each year. This year, Pete found a recipe for structural gingerbread and we went with it! We used pasteurized powdered egg whites in the structural frosting that turned out to be rock hard! We then waited a night or two for it to really set, and make decoration buttercream frosting to set all our candy in place. Here is our beautiful end result.

PS we were part of a cookie exchange and the photo of all the sweets in a lot of little ziplocs are the total of eight people's worth of 8 dozen cookies.  We took home 16 dozen cookies!
