Protection Island

Well hello all! I hope you're well. Sent us a note letting us know what you've been up to lately. Today Pete, Lee (a friend through the kayak shop) and I went for a paddle. a long and beautifully fun paddle. we launched this morning around 9:50am and paddled along the northern coast line of the Quimper peninsula around Mc Cardy's point, took a break at Glass Beach then crossed over and floated near Protection Island - a nature preserve- for a while. then we turned back and paddled with the current and tracked our way back. what a sweet 14ish mile paddle. we landed at almost 4pm. all in all an EXCELLENT day. We saw: Elephant seal (one male), many harbor seals and pups, loons (2), gulls, terns, pigeon gillemonts, bull kelp, fried egg jellies, cone jellies, odd looking brown jellies i don't know the name of, one tandem kayak, and one sail boat.
